Luck of the Bloggish!

I'm sure you're just dying to know what we've been wearing during my unplanned (read: I was lazy) hiatus from the nail blog. We celebrated St. Patrick's day last Friday, since we're in our thirties and have kids that get up early for school and general mayhem.

So, what did I wear to THE green event of the season?

Even though China Glaze "Mistletoe Kisses" is technically a Christmas color, you can't deny that the outrageous green sparkles make it perfect for pulling double duty on St. Paddy's day.
Here it is with some tip wear, because this photo was taken post-party, through what has to be the worst hangover anyone in the known universe has ever suffered.

I will also be wearing this color to Ann Arbor's Hash Bash on April 2nd, unless I decide to get crafty and put some Marijuana-themed nail art on there.

Autumn Colors!

Today, R.E.I.T. and I will be talking about autumn colors, at the request of Bronwyn Green. We're not much for "seasonal" colors over here. We like wear what we want, when we want. But we do have some colors in our stash that just scream fall.

For people who are into jewel tones, Sinful Colors "The Way" and Nicole by OPI "Show You Care" will be nice and colorful, but still dark enough for fall.

R.E.I.T thinks: Noooooo. Aha.

Some subtle metallics might also be nice. Mary Kay "Mocha Freeze" and Pure Ice "Jaguar"

R.E.I.T. thinks: I like that paint.

If you're gonna go red in the fall, I recommend a deep berry color. Mary Kay "Feisty" and Essie "Wicked"

R.E.I.T. thinks: Toes. For toes. I like paint for toes.

That's a good suggestion. A dark berry red for a pedicure!
And I like pinks to be along the mauevish spectrum. Sinful Colors "Wicket Mind" and Mary Kay "Sagewood"

R.E.I.T. thinks: I don't want pink.

Finally, what autumn color spectacular would be complete without some browny greiges?

With or without shimmer, cool-toned browns (wait, is that even possible?) look classy for fall. Finger Paints "Autumn Allure" and Rimmel "Steel Grey"

We don't even need to ask R.E.I.T. on this one. She knows what she likes, and she likes bright, bright colors.

Take our color advice with a grain of salt, of course. We're not fashionistas, we just know what we like. And because we never throw anything away, some of these colors are no longer available. These are just to give you an idea!

The Greens

Tuesday seems like a good day to post the greens in our collection!

We only have a measly five greens! And to think, all this time I've been holding us back from buying more greens, thinking we don't have enough!

L-R: Sinful Colors "The Way", Studio M "Neon Greenlight", Sinful Colors "San Francisco", Nicole by OPI: "Peas and Q's", Sinful Colors "Gorgeous".

You might be asking us, "Mommy and R.E.I.T., why do y'all have so many Sinful Colors polishes? Well, let's make this one a dual purpose post. I love Sinful Colors, so allow me to proselytize about them. Sinful Colors are cheap at 1.88 or so at Meijer. And yes, Meijer factors into my buying habits. We're a family of modest means, so I'm more likely to pick up a small luxury from the grocery store than to make a special trip out to buy nail polish at a beauty supply store. I mean, obviously, we go to Sally's and Ulta, but not as often as Meijer. Plus, with the absolutely huge selection of Sinful Colors shades, and their awesome application, I can rationalize buying four of them instead of one OPI. :)

A message from R.E.I.T.: Whoa! This is green. Funny.

R.E.I.T. says that "Peas and Q's" is the best of our green polishes, but I prefer "San Francisco". To which R.E.I.T. says, "No. Mmmm no, no, no. This." So, I guess she makes a pretty compelling argument.
